Driver License and Vehicle Registration

There is no grace period in Arizina for registration of your car, truck or motorcycle as soon as you establish residency. Automobile insurance is mandatory. To register, you will need to bring the following items to the Motor Vehicle Division:

The out of state title

Previous registration and license plates

A "passed" report from the vehicle emission test station

An inspection report from the Motor Vehicle Division to verify vehicle identification (VIN)

Insurance is mandatory in Arizona , so you will need the name of your insurance company and policy number

For your driver's license, you will need to bring your out-of-state license and one other form of identification, take the vision test and pay the fee. No written test is required.

Arizona law requires drivers and passengers to use safety belts when they ride in a passenger vehicle on Arizona roadways. A child under four years of age and/or less then 40 pounds must be placed in a properly secured safety seat.
